Source hierarchy

  1. Current regulatory text and official government records.
  2. Current FAA, NTSB, NASA, NWS, OSHA, or other responsible agency guidance.
  3. Manufacturer documentation for product-specific limitations and procedures.
  4. Standards, peer-reviewed research, and official occupational data.
  5. Credible secondary reporting used for context, not as a substitute for authority.

Rules versus guidance

The Electronic Code of Federal Regulations is checked for controlling Part 107 language. Advisory circulars and FAA web summaries help explain a rule, but they are not treated as equal to regulatory text. When an agency summary is stale or imprecise, the article states that plainly and follows the rule.

Fact-check method

Each flagship guide is checked claim by claim against its listed sources. Dates, thresholds, eligibility conditions, record duties, and exceptions receive special attention. Links are stored in structured records, checked for format and authority, and shown with a last-checked date.

Product and commercial evidence

Equipment guidance begins with a requirement or operational need. We do not infer field performance from a feature list, repeat a marketing claim as a finding, or call content a review without a documented evaluation. Prices, availability, rankings, and partner claims require fresh evidence at the time of publication.

Limits and uncertainty

A general guide cannot account for every waiver, contract, insurer, aircraft instruction, state requirement, or operating authority. Articles identify these boundaries and tell the reader what source or document to inspect next. Uncertainty is disclosed rather than converted into certainty for a cleaner headline.
